Development of the 23 September, 2003, bloom

I tried to photograph the development of a single bud on our night-blooming cereus (Epiphyllum oxypetalum). The photographs commenced on September 7, 2003, and the flower bloomed on the 23rd. The last photograph was taken the next morning, several hours after sunrise. In some of the pictures, other buds may be seen. A group of four opened two days later, on the 25th, marking the third time in four years that flowers have appeared on my birthday. An Olympus 4040Z digital camera was used.
